Faith Affirmations – Calm Yourself

Faith is not a fuzzy feeling. It’s not a vague hope or wish. I think faith is the full, confident trust in God’s character, promises, and plan—even when circumstances scream the opposite. That kind of faith doesn’t come easy. It takes practice. It takes pressure. And it absolutely takes intentionality. That’s why I wanted to talk to you about faith affirmations! In a previous post, I talked about Godly Affirmations. This time I want to focus on building our faith – our ability to trust God!

Sister, let’s talk faith FOR real! By that, I mean no fluffy, Christian-ese talk. I mean real-deal talk. :)

Faith affirmations are one way to train your mind and spirit to trust God. When you speak the truth of Scripture over your life, you’re not just reciting pretty words—you’re declaring war on doubt. You’re choosing to believe what God says over what fear says. That’s powerful. That’s spiritual maturity. And it’s exactly what you need to walk boldly in this season.

In this post, you’ll find five biblical faith affirmations about faith, each backed by Scripture, three targeted Bible journaling prompts, and a coaching-style challenge to help you apply what you’re speaking.

This isn’t fluff. This is transformation work.

So grab your journal, your Bible, and let’s go deep with our faith affirmations!

Scripture:
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Trusting God means walking in the dark sometimes. It means moving even when you don’t have all the details. During these times, I sometimes print my faith affirmations and hang them on mirrors or put them in my phone! But that’s what faith is—a firm grip on what you know God has said, not just what you see around you.

Bible Journaling Prompts for affirmations for faith:

  1. Where in my life am I relying more on sight than on faith right now?
  2. What promise from God’s Word do I need to trust, even when I can’t see the outcome?
  3. How has God shown Himself trustworthy in the past when I couldn’t see a way forward?

Challenge:
This week, take one step of faith in a situation where you’ve been waiting for clarity. Trust God’s character more than your comfort. Write out what that step will be and take it.

Scripture:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6

Faith begins with who you know God to be. Not what He can do for you—but who He is: faithful, sovereign, loving, just, and present. When your faith is rooted in His character, it doesn’t shake when your plans fall apart. Your faith affirmations about who God is should align with the gracious, kind, loving Father in scripture. He’s on your side, Christian Sister!

Bible Journaling Prompts:

  1. What attributes of God do I struggle to believe right now (e.g., that He is just, near, or loving)?
  2. What does it look like to “earnestly seek Him” in my everyday life?
  3. How can I build a stronger understanding of God’s character through Scripture?

Challenge:
Write a declaration of who God is based on Scripture and read it aloud every morning this week. Make it part of your routine until it becomes part of your belief system.

faith affirmations
Faith affirmations change how you think!

Scripture:
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

Faith isn’t about size—it’s about source. A tiny seed of faith in a mighty God is more powerful than any obstacle you face. Speak that over your fears, your family, your finances—whatever mountain is standing in your way.

Bible Journaling Prompts:

  1. What “mountain” in my life feels immovable right now?
  2. What’s one small act of faith I can take today to confront it?
  3. Have I been trying to move the mountain on my own strength instead of in faith?

Challenge:
Pray boldly over the biggest challenge in your life this week. Don’t water it down. Don’t play it safe. Ask big—because God honors bold, mountain-moving faith.

Scripture:
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.” – Romans 4:20

This verse is about Abraham, who believed God would give him a son even when it seemed impossible. He refused to let unbelief rule his mind. That’s the kind of mental toughness and spiritual grit God calls us to.

Bible Journaling Prompts:

  1. What promises from God am I tempted to give up on?
  2. What has been strengthening—or weakening—my faith lately?
  3. How can I honor God by believing Him even when things seem delayed?

Challenge:
Fast from unbelief this week. Every time a thought of doubt enters your mind, write it down—then write a faith-filled truth to counter it. Practice turning your mind like a muscle.

How often should I use my faith affirmations?

At least every day. It’s best to keep meditating on them throughout the day.
Remember, you’re re-training or transforming your mind.

Scripture:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does. If you have to understand everything before you move, that’s not faith, that’s control. Let go and trust Him.

Bible Journaling Prompts:

  1. Where in my life am I still leaning on my own understanding?
  2. What would it look like to truly trust God in that area?
  3. When has God worked something out in a way that made no sense to me, but turned out better than I expected?

Challenge:
Pick one area where you’ve been holding tight to control. Pray a surrender prayer every day this week, and ask God to help you trust Him fully—even if you don’t get answers right away.

faith affirmations
I think faith affirmations are so healing in grief.

You’re not always going to feel full of faith. That’s real. But your feelings don’t get the final say. God’s Word does.

That’s why these faith affirmations are so powerful—they’re not just mindset tools, they’re spiritual weapons. They help you retrain your thinking, renew your heart, and reject fear. But like any tool, they only work if you use them.

Speak them. Write them. Declare them over your life. But most importantly—live them. Obedience is the proof of faith.

I like Pastor Jack Haford. He wrote a great blog post on the topic of Words and the Power of Words.

And don’t forget: You’re not doing this alone. The Holy Spirit is your coach, your counselor, and your comforter. Let Him stretch you. Let Him lead you. Let Him grow your faith into something fierce and unshakable.
