God what do you want me to do

God what do you want me to do?

Alliances and plans…

This scripture Isaiah 30: 1 has taken hold of me for weeks now. Yesterday, over a cup of pumpkin spice coffee and some yummy chocolates, my cousin and I chatted about the power of this chapter. You see, in this rebuke of the children of Israel, you will discover admonitions to rest, God’s long-suffering, forgiveness, and much more! He’s telling them what to do! They didn’t need to Google “God what do you want me to do?”

He told them and He’s telling us too.

Doing what GOD wants me to do

It is absolutely critical to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in your day-to-day life. He must be the primary and supreme influence as you make decisions, form alliances, and launch new projects.

The longer you know Him, you’ll know whether He is guiding you to do something or telling you to run from that situation with heated force!. The issue for me is not so much “knowing” God’s will as much as it is just submitting to it. Do you know what I mean? Either way, the longer you walk with Him, you’ll recognize His direction.

Good Idea or God Idea

So often, projects can be a “good” idea but have nothing to do with God’s direction for your life. In other words, it can make scenes to do something in your mind, but not be expedient for you to do it. It would be a great idea if I volunteer 40 hours at nonprofit. Terrific idea, right? Not really. I have a job, a family and too much to do in my life.

Another example is the traditional roles in the church. Did you know people occupy ministry roles simply to appease tradition? I fell for that one. As the pastor’s wife, I was “supposed” to do something at my church. However, the timing was all off! The people were not receptive and I needed to focus on my new marriage.

In many cases, God may not have even ordained some of those roles, or worse, not even the ministry. Seriously, you’ve gotta be wise with what you opt to do.

Signs you’re not supposed to do something: 1) Wise people (more than one) tell you NOT to do it. 2) You just don’t feel “right” about doing it. 3) Absolutely NOTHING is falling in place. These can be strong indicators whatever you’re thinking about is a BAD IDEA!

Not only “roles”, but the same goes for people too!

Choose friends and acquaintances very carefully, Christian woman. The Holy Spirit has a special way of leading you to the right people to include in your life as a mate, friend, or even a buddy. You can’t force it, manipulate it, or press it; it must be a Godly alliance.

Sometimes, people want to be in a relationship with you, but it doesn’t feel like a fit. Possible “red flag” emerging! I’ve met people that I was sure we would be friends either because I wanted us to, they wanted us to, or even because our husbands were friends. But, it didn’t feel right, so I usually “jetted.”

Girl, I love EVERYONE, but everyone doesn’t deserve a front-row seat to my life.

Anyone searching “what do you want me to do, Jesus” should remember…

God’s will is not as mysterious as many make it out to be. It simply requires patience, stillness, and a willingness to listen. Pray to see if God wants you to do that thing or becoming involved with that person. Follow peace (not desire) and you’ll be fine.

Amen, Christian Lady?

Scriptures I like:

Isaiah 30:1
“Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the LORD, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;

Psalm 37:23-24
The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

1 John 2:27 2
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Psalm 23:2-3
“He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Psalm 17:6
“My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.”

Proverbs 4:18
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” (God’s path is not confusing, Girl! He will direct you.)

Joshua 1:6-8
6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
