My prayer to be a better woman: Christian blog for woman and Ladies!

It is sort of funny how this time of year, it seems like everyone is jumping on the self-improvement bandwagon. It’s plastered across talk shows, news outlets, and almost everywhere you look—nearly as if people are trying to distract themselves from the reality of their lives. It’s wild. This prompted me to think about a praying a prayer to be a better woman. Why do we often hold off on self-improvement until a specific time of year? I find myself doing the same. This year feels different, though. Instead of getting caught up in physical clutter or the weight I wish to shed, my heart longs to grow closer to my purpose as a woman of God. I believe that if I can nurture that spiritual growth, everything else will naturally align. So, I invite you to join me in this heartfelt prayer to become a better woman!

A woman of God!

What does it mean to achieve a state of being better? Who possesses the authority to define this concept for every individual across the globe?

There exists no singular definition.

Being a better version of yourself will look different than someone else’s ambitions.

Still, we all will have one thing in common.

I think it is a continuous journey that involves self-reflection, personal growth, and the commitment to embrace new experiences.

To become a truly empowered Christian woman, one thing is non-negotiable: you must dare to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the thrill of the unknown.

Sounds scary, doesn’t it?

Let me give you a starting point – the one I use myself.

I’m centering on identifying strengths and weaknesses.

What’s going well, Christian Woman?

I want you to think about something you are proud of in this season of your life.

Ask yourself, what are the aspects of your life or situation that are thriving right now?

Are you managing your money well?

Are you focusing on growing stronger as a Christian woman?

Are you being less responsive or reactionary with difficult people?

Could it be you’re truly rocking at your job or ministry?

Are you doing a fantastic job monitoring and investing in your health?

Are you no longer involved in an unGodly relationship with a man who doesn’t value you?

Maybe you are investing more time in solid, good relationships.

Have you stopped smoking?

Whatever it is, celebrate your current victories as you strive to secure new ones.

One way to celebrate your wins is by thanking God for His guidance and strength!

Praise Him fervently for the power to be where you are!!!

As the old advertisement said, “You’ve come a long way, Baby!”

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

I hate the word “Goals.”

The word goals gets on my nerves.

It could be because I’ve failed at so many of them that I’ve had in the past.

I can’t stand people always pushing me toward goals.

Goals…goals…goals. It’s all they talk about

Sure, I need those people in my life, but they bug me. :)

They are like a multivitamin.

Nobody wants them, but they are so good for you.

Reframing the concept of goals works for me. Instead of calling it a goal, I call it something I will do.

For instance, I desperately need to lose some weight.

Watching my mom decline, taking care of her, and then losing her and my brother devastated me. Food was my comfort.

Word to the wise: resist the urge to find comfort in pound cake.

It “don’t” work.

Eating too much - part of prayer to be a better woman

Anyway, I don’t use the word goals to represent my endeavor to get my life back on track.

If you’re anything like me, you might try to use more positive words to reflect the aspiration of a goal, such as ambition, aim, or objective; these terms resonate with a sense of purpose but don’t conjure any past failings.

That’s what I think, anyway.

They drive us forward and inspire us to stay focused and improve.

A prayer to be a better woman means taking action and working towards that goal.

Let me share a quick example.

The amount of weight I want to lose is defined.

It will not be fast. After all, it was not fast to gain it.

I’m so blessed my husband loves me as I am and chases me as much as he ever did.

One day, I’ll let him catch me. Ha! #joke

This morning, I was wondering about that big number I wanted to lose. Then I caught myself and thought, “Let’s not focus on the end goal. Instead, let’s focus on micro-successes. I will lose two pounds this week. Period.”

I felt like my own life coach! I loved that!

Seriously, re-framing my objectives positioned me to say “no” to some food choices I might have indulged in on that day!

Simple prayer to be a better woman

Let’s recap before prayer to be a better woman

Being a better woman is a journey.

Along that journey, praise God for the things you’ve overcome and those things you’re currently proud of.

Then, figure out how to set a destination and add some milestones along the way to gauge your progress.

A praying woman is a powerful woman

You cannot do this life alone.

Nor can you have a strong prayer life if you pray while doing other things.

If you want to be a better woman, a genuinely strong Christian woman, embrace your faith wholeheartedly and seek to deepen your relationship with God through prayer and His Word.

prayer to be a better woman

Being a Christian woman involves more just attending church services.

It means actively participating in a church family, showing compassion to others, and being a role model of kindness and integrity.

Your prayer to be a better woman should be rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and seeking His power to implement them in your daily life.

Areas of improvement could include things like the following. Also, I’ve linked to some some inspirational articles about each topic.

Ways to improve your life and be better Christian woman:

  • Deepening your personal relationship with God through prayer and Bible study
  • Cultivating a spirit of gratitude and contentment
  • Practicing patience and grace in your relationships (friends, family and cowoarkers)
  • Developing self-discipline and time management skills
  • Growing in wisdom and making better choices
  • Strengthening your role as an encourager and peacemaker
  • Fostering humility and a servant-hearted attitude
  • Prioritizing physical health and self-care as stewards of God’s temple
  • Building Christ-centered confidence and self-worth
  • Committing to Biblical giving of tithes, offerings, as well as generosity and acts of kindness
  • Being involved in women’s ministry

Don’t forget to surround yourself with positive people while working on self-improvement.

This may mean you don’t hang with unsaved friends or folks who live on the Real Housewives of this or that.

Lean on the people who know God and support your Christian growth. The aforementioned won’t “get” it.

How do I pray to be a better person?

Okay. Let’s get to it.

Below is the core of my prayer for a better version of myself.

To be clear, I don’t advocate praying prayers like magic formulas. I’m sharing it to inspire you.

Make it your own, okay?

Dear Sweet Heavenly Father,

I praise you for your awesome greatness and your tender mercies toward me.

You’ve carried me such a long way, and I thank you so much for the understanding, guidance, and power You’ve given me in my life journey.

Please forgive me, Father, for the times I’ve failed you, disobeyed you, and tried to do things my own way.

Wash me from my sins and direct me in the path you have for me. I am determined to do differently as I move forward, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, I know I can.

Thank You for creating me in Your image and for calling me to be a woman who reflects Your light and love. You put me on this earth to be a light on the hill (Matthew 5:14).

May I never try to cover it in pride, shame, or people-pleasing. I desperately want your light to shine bright in me so people can see You and glorify You.

Lord, I humbly ask for Your guidance to grow into the woman You’ve designed me to be.

Help me to embody the wisdom of Proverbs 31:26, speaking with kindness and wisdom, and to clothe myself with strength and dignity as I walk confidently in Your purpose.

Father, create in me a clean heart (Psalm 51:10) and renew a steadfast spirit within me so that I may seek You above all else and live a life that honors You in every word and action.

Lord, help me to bear the fruit of Your Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Then, I’ll never be ashamed.

Teach me, Lord Jesus, to trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding but to acknowledge You in all my ways (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Strengthen me to resist distractions and temptations, and instead, root me deeply in Your Word. May it be a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.

Please, Lord, let my life be a strong, consistent testimony of Your grace and goodness, and may everything – and I do mean every single thing – I do in my life bring glory to Your name.

I ask that you be with me and remind me of this prayer to be a better woman for you as I live my life today.

In the mighty, matchless, powerful name of Jesus,

Amen

God bless you, Christian Sister! Thanks for reading, and I pray you reach your goals—I mean, aim to be a better version of yourself!
