Before my oldest son left for college, I made sure he was fully prepared. I didn’t just pack a few items—I went all out. Like most moms, I obsessed over every detail so he’d have what he needed. Grandma helped too. We stacked up towels, sheets, snacks, and encouragement. That cold dorm room wasn’t going to catch my baby off guard.
We delivered what he needed because we love him. And that’s exactly what God does for you.
God delivers us, not just in times of visible crisis, but in the quiet preparation for everything He’s called us to walk through. He doesn’t push us into the unknown empty-handed. Just like I loaded my son’s car with practical tools, God loads our lives with spiritual ones.
We’re not left defenseless or alone. We’re not expected to face struggles without heavenly help. And we’re definitely not powerless.
God is Ready and Way Ahead
There’s something beautiful about how thoroughly God prepares us for the spiritual “dorm rooms” of life. The cold seasons. The lonely seasons. The unknowns. The mistakes we didn’t plan for.
When those moments come, we often ask, “God, where are You?” But the truth is, God delivers us before the problem even shows up.
Just like I packed everything in advance for my son, God stocked your spiritual toolbox long before the enemy threw that curveball at your life.
The Bible reminds us in 2 Peter 1:3 that His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life. Everything. Not most things. Not only on good days. God delivers us what we need when we need it—sometimes before we even realize we’ll need it.
He equips us with peace in the middle of storms, wisdom in the middle of confusion, and strength when we feel absolutely depleted. God delivers us from spiritual ignorance by giving us the Word. He delivers us from isolation by giving us His Spirit.
God Delivers Us This Way
I always say Christianity works if you work it. That doesn’t mean you’re earning salvation or checking boxes to get into heaven. We know better than that. But walking with Jesus requires using what He’s already handed you. Think of it like this—if someone gives you a parachute on a crashing plane, it’s not enough to just hold it. You’ve got to strap it on and jump when the time comes.
God delivers us by giving us access to tools—prayer, the Bible, community, and the Holy Spirit—but if we leave those tools unopened, we’ll struggle unnecessarily.
Imagine a husband leaving his wife a “just-in-case” fund before going on a long trip. It’s sitting right there, available, but she never touches it. She struggles and worries instead. That’s what many of us do spiritually. We forget that God delivers us, equips us, and provides everything we need to make it through.
Galatians 5:22-23 gives us a glimpse of just some of the fruit we already carry inside: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are not things we have to beg for—they’re already growing inside us because His Spirit lives in us.
The Holy Spirit isn’t just a church experience or a concept we say amen to. He’s our everyday Help. When you’re in traffic and losing patience, He’s there. When that family member crosses the line again, He’s the one whispering peace and self-control. God delivers us by planting His own Spirit inside us, and that alone changes everything.
You don’t have to create strength from nothing. You already have it. You’re not waiting on power—you’re learning how to tap into what’s already there.
You Can Change Because God Lives in You
You can become the woman God designed you to be. I know that sounds like a big claim, but it’s true. God delivers us not just from the penalty of sin, but from the power it used to have over our lives.
Maybe you struggle with losing your temper. Maybe it’s gossip, procrastination, comparison, or unforgiveness. Whatever it is, you don’t have to stay stuck. You don’t have to label yourself by your lowest moment. God delivers us so we don’t have to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
But here’s the thing: the change won’t always feel magical or instant. Sometimes it’s a slow process. It’s choosing better one day at a time, inviting God into the process, and trusting that He’s not finished with you yet.
I’ve walked through seasons where I felt like I would never overcome certain things. But I’ve also seen how God delivers us little by little, moment by moment, until suddenly we realize we’re not the same woman we were a year ago—or even a month ago.
What’s Helped Me Keep Going
When I feel off, I do a quick heart check. Am I praying regularly? Am I in the Word? Am I spending time with God or just talking about Him?
Usually when I’m the most spiritually drained, I’ve drifted from something I know I need. That’s when I come back to this reminder:
The Holy Spirit plus a little discipline, multiplied by faith, equals victory.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about showing up. God delivers us, but we have to choose to walk in that freedom every single day. It’s a relationship, not a vending machine. He’s with you, He’s for you, and He’s already made a way.
A Testimony and a Truth You Can Stand On
My mom was a smoker for years. I remember how gracefully she held her cigarette—long fingers, freshly polished nails, gold rings catching the light. But when she gave her heart to Jesus, she prayed a simple prayer: “Lord, take it from me.”
He did. Just like that.
She never touched another cigarette again.
God delivers us in different ways. Sometimes instantly, like He did for her. Sometimes slowly, walking with us through every setback, lesson, and tear. But no matter the method, He always comes through.
I’ve had things in my life He removed with a single prayer. Others? I had to work out with Him in prayer, fasting, accountability, and a whole lot of starting over. But the result is the same—freedom.
God delivers us not because we’re so strong or worthy, but because He’s good.
That’s who He is.
Mini Devotional: God Delivers at Work, Too
You don’t have to wait until Sunday morning or your quiet time at home to experience deliverance. Take a moment—even in your workday—to pause and say:
“Lord, I receive what You’ve already given me. Thank You that I don’t have to earn peace—I just need to walk in it. Thank You that deliverance isn’t on the way…it’s already here. Help me activate it today.”
Then read this verse quietly if you can:
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you… He will give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit.”
Romans 8:11 NASB
Take a deep breath. Let it go. Whatever you’re carrying—whatever has been heavy—remember: God delivers us. You are not fighting alone. You are not stuck. You are not defeated.
You’ve got every spiritual tool you need to thrive, grow, and overcome. Use them.
You’ve got this because God delivers us, and He never stops showing up for His daughters.

I was also thinking of Ephesians 3:16 ?? in which Paul writes that the same power God used to raise Jesus from the dead is the power we have at our disposal through the Holy Spirit!! How big does a problem seem now? :-)
