Prayer is so incredibly important right now, isn’t it? My day started with it and the remainder is sure to be seasoned with it as well. This very morning, I prayed the below prayer for a friend in need of healing.
My dear friend texted this morning and said today was not a good day in her healing journey. Immediately, I stopped the world and began praying.
Even though my bedroom was empty and still, I retreated to my prayer room as though I was on a crucial mission and cried out to the Lord.
He met me there.
Let me tell you, my personal prayer for a friend in need of healing was not a quiet one at all. My face was not dry. I travailed in the spirit. My body quivered as I emptied my heart to the Lord and fought what seemed like a heated, fiery battle in the depths of my spirit.
After receiving my friend’s text, my initial response was to pause…to just sit in His presence.
I, then prayed swiftly. You know what I mean. One of those “Lord save me!” sort of prayers like Peter prayed when He was drowning. I cried out:
“JESUS, TOUCH HER!”
“MOVE, LORD JESUS!!!!”
After that cry, faith-filled words and promises poured out of my mouth like a warm liquid from my heart.
Phase II: a bit more order …
That was about the time I went into my prayer room to ensure I would not be interrupted as my husband transitioned from his own prayer closet to come upstairs.
In that room, I continued to pray, cry, and intercede for my friend.
After a bit of time, again, I paused.
I sat.
As prayer welled up again, I decided to write my words.
I needed them to somehow “hit” the atmosphere in a visible way. Writing does that for me.
Have you ever written your prayers?
Jesus is so faithful and always meets us in prayer, Christian Woman.
Regardless of whether our prayers are of the casual variety or burning urgent ones like mine was this morning – He is always there.
Prayer time is individual;
personal and no ‘one size fits all’.
You see, God will lead and direct you in your prayer time.
Prayer time should never be hurried or manipulated in my opinion.
It’s methodical and unfolds as He sees fit.
Trust Him, slow your roll; don’t rush. Just remain in His presence as the Holy Spirit directs you.
The prayer below is my prayer and is not meant to be a formula.
Get outta here!
This prayer is simply me sharing my heart and process in case it encourages or blesses you.
Don’t get it twisted!
Again, don’t misunderstand me – not even a little. I’m not, by ANY means saying you must pray this prayer the way I pray it.
If you choose to read it and pray it in your prayer time, that’s fine. But, my intent is not to exalt myself as an example or prayer guru or spiritual Yoda. 🙂
Anyway, after I wrote out my prayer for a friend in need of healing, I decided to include each scripture I referenced in it.
You’ll find those verses listed below.
If you’d like to read another prayer, click here. I found this one some years ago and use it to this day! Of course, I customized it. 🙂
Prayers should be rooted in God’s Word.
Praying the Word of God is powerful.
It is sort of like activating a spiritual contract.
Using God’s Word as the foundation of your prayer ensures you pray according to God’s will.
Christian women cannot just pray all over the place. Know your Word!
Think of it as a “spiritual bumper rail” that keeps your prayers focused and centered on God’s purposes.
Praying God’s word keeps ya from going off into spiritual cuckoo territory like praying for a Lexus when you can’t afford one or praying you’ll get someone else’s husband.
Utter foolishness. Pray according to God’s word and in alignment with it.
“Ummm… if it is your will….”
In my opinion, this means you don’t have to say things like “if it is your will” foolishness to God.
He is fully aware of His will and knows the spirit in which you pray.
You should live a life of surrender to His will, so you don’t need to say it.
Honestly, I hate when people say “if it is your will” in the context of prayer. In my opinion, it’s like their “safety net” in case their prayer isn’t answered.
Or worse, It’s hollow “Christian-ese”.

As I’ve said time and time again, we know God’s will is ‘king’. Better yet, He knows His will is king.
My “smarty pants” tip for
Christian women praying…
Here’s how you’ll know your prayer petition is not God’s will….
Ready….
Here it is: IT WON’T HAPPEN!
Boom!
Plain and simple.
"The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living." Hebrews 11: 1 (MSG) Click To TweetFaith is the substance of things hoped for!
Hey, don’t give the enemy anything to work with by using any Christian-ese “loopholes”.
When we pray and then say “if it is your will” the enemy can easily use that to negate the afore prayed prayer.
He can easily plant doubt in those who hear it. He can say to them “Hmmm…maybe it is not God’s will to heal you.”
Just as Jesus told that man, He is willing. He will heal.
Whether He decides to heal on this side of heaven or the other; healing is going to happen and it’s none of our business how or where it happens.
We just pray. We just believe. We just wait.
Check out my post on how to trust God more than your doctor.

He said, in His Word, I can instead come BOLDLY to the throne.
Besides that, He said I can make my request known.
So, I pray what I’d like to see happen – according to God’s promise – and then I say amen.
My next job is then to believe I’ve received what I asked.
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24 Click To TweetMy prayer for a friend in need of healing is rooted in faith and in the Word of God! I don’t have time for any “just in case” clauses when I already know God’s will is king!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
Philippians 4:6.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16
Would you like to see
my sample prayer now?
As always, find your own words and your own voice to talk to your very own heavenly Father.
This is just my prayer. Nothing special about it.
You want to be close enough to the Father to build a sense of intimacy with Him.
Intimacy is connected to transparency. As you become intimate with the Father, your words will come during prayer. Click To TweetAgain, this is just an example. My prayer holds no “magical” formula. 🙂 I can’t say that enough.

Dear Lord Jesus,
I thank you that You have provided healing as the bread of your children.
Right now I partake of my friend’s portion of that healing. I pray your healing power be manifested in her body this very second.
I thank you, God, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that you are Lord. This illness must also bow to the name of Jesus! No sickness is more powerful than you, Lord.
By the authority you’ve given me in Jesus Christ, I take authority over my friend’s infirmity right now in Jesus name!
Jesus, man may be baffled and confused by this illness, but you are never EVER baffled. We know that you sit on the throne of healing right now in the name of Jesus.
You know the end from the beginning and can stop this illness in it’s tracks! Please cause this illness and it’s symptoms to cease right now!
And we know that you’re able to raise up her body in Jesus’ name.
The same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead will give life and quicken her mortal body right now. You said this and we thank you it is your will to do so.
As deep calls unto deep, I pray that the Holy Spirit will ring in the depths of her soul and manifest healing throughout every cell of her body. I pray the life and quickening power of the Holy Spirit replaces the limited, finite power of this illness.
I thank you, Lord that she shall live and not die and declare your glory on this earth.
The report of others is not her report. Her report is of victory and her report is of restoration and her report is of healing. That is the report we will believe!
In Jesus’ mighty name, I plead the blood of Jesus over her.
I plead the blood of Jesus over every organ in her body.
I plead the Blood over every medicine she takes.
Send healing on the wings of your spirit, Lord as she fights this battle.
You said you sent your word and healed them. I stand on your promise of healing for my friend right now in the name of Jesus. Deliver her from the destruction of this illness.
Thank you, this sickness is not unto death but is that people may see your might and your glory and your healing power in the name of Jesus. For your namesake, show them your power, Lord!
I thank you, Lord, that no weapon formed against her will prosper and even any tongue that rises up to speak a faithless word will be condemned.
I pray that as she is going through this healing process, You would surround her by your glory. Let your peace rule in her heart. Speak sweet words of comfort to her as you heal her.
I pray, Father, that the Holy Spirit would wrap her up in His loving arms and give her the comfort of knowing that You will heal her and You will raise her up again. Remind her, Lord, she shall yet praise You, in the temple.
YES! She shall be in the house of the Lord again one day, singing of your great wonders! Among them shall be her total and complete healing of this illness.
I thank you, Lord that she shall one day tell others how you’ve redeemed her life from utter destruction and how you restored her to health in the name of Jesus.
As you delivered her so many times before in her life, times she both knew about and those times she didn’t even know, I pray that you will deliver her from this illness and raise her up again for your glory.
I bind this sickness in the name of Jesus and I loose the spirit of healing and complete eradication of all infirmity, in Jesus’ name.
Jesus, I understand what the enemy means for evil, you are fully able to turn for the good. So Jesus, turn the situation around right now and cause your grace to abound toward my friend.
I pray the Holy Spirit raises a song of deliverance for her as she recovers and gets stronger day by day.
I ask that this song resounds loudly in her spirit and drowns the voices of doubt.
Indeed, cause your psalms and hymns to comfort her, remind her of your greatness and build her faith through memories, scripture recall, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, I believe, and I stand on the promises of God for her. It is done! AMEN and so be it in Jesus’ name!
Instead of worrying about your friend's health. PRAY! BELIEVE AND TRUST! Click To TweetSee him or her healed in Jesus name!
Praise Him in advance for it now!

Finally, here are the scriptures I based my prayer on:
Matthew 15:22-28
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Philippians 2:10-11

Worship is a wonderful “seal” to your faith.
Here are a few worship songs I really love to play as I’m waiting for healing or any answer to prayer.
I love you!
