Comforting and Meaningful Grieving Christmas Quotes

Quotes are a great way to capture an in-depth concept with few words. I think that is why I love quotes. I don’t even care much about who said the quote. If it resonates, it resonates. It could have come from a corporate leader or even a child. It doesn’t matter. Since I am still on a grief journey during this Christmas season, I’ve been relying on Bible scriptures and grieving Christmas quotes to help me stay encouraged during this first Christmas season without my family. I am still shocked I lost my last two family members in one year. But these sorts of things happen. Anyway, I’ve been looking for new grieving Christmas quotes each day. That’s why I decided to write this blog post and share it with anyone else seeking such quotes.

Face it. Christmas is different.

It’s essential to face that Christmas will never be the same without your loved one. I know it is hard and a bitter pill to swallow, but it is true.

It helps me to deal with the reality of my life straightway without trying to avoid it or remain in shock.

The truth of the matter is my mom and my brother are gone and I need to keep living and move forward.

Because this is such a complex and new reality, I did not cook Thanksgiving this year.

After all, it is the first one without them both, so I gave myself some grace.

I am unsure what Christmas will be, but since I don’t have small children anymore, I have not put a tree up yet. Again, grace.

Yes, this feels like a HORRIBLE Christmas. If you just lost someone, you may be able to relate.

So the first grieving Christmas quote is about just that – grace.

“Whatever grace looks like for you, give it to yourself. Let go of the things you don’t have control over. Abandon the idea of perfection. Do what brings you joy!” Source: Women’s Wednesdays.com

“God never brings anything without giving you everything you need to get through it.” GodsyGirl.com

Remember, while this is a sorrowful Christmas, it won’t always be that way.

If you go through this healing process, the pain will get better.

Future Christmases will be wonderful as you let go of the past and embrace the new normal that is ahead.

Don’t get stuck in what was and miss what can be.

Focus on what you still have as you read your grieving Christmas quotes.

One of the most classic “sucker moves” is to focus on the negative. In my opinion, this is so easy to do after a loss.

I think it is the first gear for a griever to concentrate on the grief instead of on what is still in their lives.

You cannot do that this Christmas.

Sure, you may need to heal, and your pain may be fresh. But even now, I am trying to think about the blessings that remain.

I have a fantastic church family.

I have friends that surround me and hold me up.

I have my own family, which includes my husband, my kids, and my daughter-in-law.

I still have one more brother left. Even though he lives far away, he is here, and he is wonderful.

I have the strength of my limbs and my body.

Even though I’m temporarily out of order, I still have a reasonably functioning mind and clarity of thought.

Jesus is real and is walking me through this season with songs of worship, scriptures of comfort, and people who love me.

I’m blessed, and you are too.

Take a second to count your blessings. Whatever you have lost, someone somewhere has lost so much more. Be grateful.

Regardless of how little you feel if left after your loss. Thank God for it. You could have less.

Of all the quotes I can share, the most powerful grieving Christmas quotes are from the Bible.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:1

Being grateful is necessary for joy, as it invites a profound appreciation for the small moments that often go unnoticed.

They are even more unnoticed in our pain.

When we cultivate gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we possess, fostering a deeper connection to our experiences and enhancing our overall well-being.

This practice enriches our relationships and serves as a reminder of the positivity that surrounds us daily, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and joyful existence.

Remember, everyone is not happy this Christmas.

The truth is that many people are hurt during the holidays, as this time of year can bring forth memories of loss, loneliness, and unresolved conflicts.

This can often amplify feelings of sadness and stress for those who are coping with difficult circumstances or the absence of loved ones.

I say this in the blog post because I want you to remember you’re not the only one. You’re not strange. You’re just grieving.

Social media is one of the biggest issues we have during this time of year. It purports that everyone is happy, getting great gifts, and doing great things.

Bull.

They are not. Most people are unhappy for one reason or another. Don’t trust every smile and every post.

As you go through this holiday season, remember these grieving Christmas quotes. They come from various places but will encourage you nonetheless.

Finally…

If you are grieving a loss, do know I understand.

Your heart is broken, and an emotional injury is just as debilitating as a physical one. So, please be gentle yourself.

Turn to the Lord in prayer, and remember that He understands how you feel. He loves you and can handle your anger or disappointment. He’s your loving Father who is there for you—even when you don’t feel it.

Just as you don’t currently feel the nourishment from your lunch last week, it’s there in your body, helping you. The same is true for the power and presence of the Lord. Whether you feel it or not, if you are a Christian, He’s helping you.
