Blessings and the David Sight and Sound Adventure

Initially, I thought I didn’t take a single photo on this trip. Not one. I tried to put the phone down, live in the moment, and actually see Branson through my own eyes—not through a screen. And honestly? It was glorious. However, it turns out I did take a few. :) Still, every laugh, every smell, every bite of pie—it all landed deeper because I wasn’t trying to “capture” it. I was just there.

And that, my friend, is how this fifty-something woman ended up once again on one of her best mini-getaways yet—soaking in the mountain air, laughing until my cheeks hurt, and discovering that the balcony at the David Sight and Sound show might just be the best-kept secret in Branson.

When Every Ticket’s Gone but God Saves You a Balcony Seat

So here’s how it started.

I wanted to see David Sight and Sound Theater—the big biblical production everyone talks about these days.

But when I checked tickets, everything was sold out except the balcony.

I groaned. Balcony seats? I pictured myself squinting to see the front like an old church mother.

But oh, was I wrong!

That balcony seat was golden.

From up there, I could see the entire production—the lights, the movement, the sets unfolding like a living painting.

The whole place pulsed with life.

You could even smell the hay from the animals as they trotted across the stage.

It felt like being inside a story God Himself directed.

The music swelled, the lights shimmered, and when David faced Goliath, the roar of the crowd gave me chills. I thought to myself, “Okay, Lord. You really do save the best seats for last.”

The David Sight and Sound show was more than entertainment—it was worship wrapped in Broadway-level brilliance. If you’ve never been, go.

And if the balcony’s all that’s left? Don’t hesitate.

It’s the best view in the house.

Really!

They didn’t have my favorite candy pecans this time. Boo!

Just “almost pecans.”

But here’s the thing—they were almost heavenly. Sweet, crunchy, buttery perfection. That’s when it hit me: life is full of “almosts.”

And sometimes, those almosts turn out even better than what we thought we wanted.

The Great “Almost Pecan” Revelation

The next day, we made our way to one of my favorite little Branson shops. Click the link to see pics and video from it.

The air inside smelled like vanilla candles, old wood, and nostalgia.

I bought a new Bible cover (as if I needed another one) and, of course, a slice of blueberry pie that should’ve won awards.

So yes, I enjoyed every “almost” bite, thankful that not everything has to be perfect to be good.

My Ride-or-Die and the Rolls That Fly on the way to My Trip to Branson: David Sight and Sound

My bestie Cheryle came with me.

She and I have been friends for over thirty years. We’ve been through jobs, church dramas, road trips, and bad hairstyles together. If loyalty had a face, it’d be hers.

Naturally, we had to stop at Lambert’s Café—home of the famous “throwed rolls.”

Usually when that first roll comes flying across the restaurant, I raise my hands like I was catching the Holy Ghost—and miss.

The second one? Success!

But, this time, I caught it! It was heavy, warm, and dense enough to double as a hand weight. Maybe that’s why I finally managed to grab it.

Ususally they are softer and lighter … oh well.

The food was okay. The chicken wings looked like they were the wings from those big dinosaurs from back in the day. Huge.

Check-in wasn’t until four, so we hit the Tanger Outlets.

Have you been there?

It started as “just browsing,” but somehow, I walked out with a new handbag and enough Bath & Body Works lotion to make my entire house smell like a spa.

Vanilla, grapefruit, eucalyptus—you name it. If joy had a scent, that was it.

It felt good to wander without an agenda.

Just two women laughing, shopping, and talking about how fast life changes.

I think God delights in those small, silly moments as much as our big prayers.

The next day, Waxy Osheas hit the spot 100%.

Crispy fries that crunched like heaven, egg rolls that tasted like they came straight from some creative Irish Grandma’s kitchen, and the best fried fish this side of Missouri. My friend ordered the artichoke cheese dip, which came out looking like melted confusion.

Even the server, Eric, gave it a sympathetic look. He whisked it away. Now that’s grace in action.

We laughed so hard we could barely eat.

Sometimes joy isn’t in the big plans—it’s in the roll you actually catch.

The Hilton Promenade and Tanger Therapy

We stayed at the Hilton Promenade, right in downtown Branson.

The view was great—city lights reflecting from the shopping area and a peaceful hum of traffic that made you want to sip tea by the window and think deep thoughts.

Not really Branson – but to give you an idea. :)

Brunch, Storms, and the Road Home

The next morning, we headed to Billy Gail’s near Table Rock Lake.

It’s tucked away in the hills—rustic, warm, and just the right mix of local charm and Southern hospitality.

The pancakes were huge (the size of a pizza), the ham flavorful, and the butter melted like a prayer on your plate. The coffee, though? Let’s just say… not my favorite this time.

But everything else was perfect.

When we left, dark clouds rolled in fast.

The rain started pounding, and the mountain roads twisted like ribbons. My hands gripped the wheel as the wipers struggled to keep up. For a moment, I felt nervous—but also oddly calm. It reminded me of life itself: unpredictable, winding, sometimes stormy, but steady when you trust Who’s guiding you.

I drove slowly through the mist, whispering prayers of gratitude. Every drop that hit the windshield felt like God saying, “I’ve got you.”

What I Brought Home

This trip wasn’t about pictures or souvenirs—it was about perspective.

I realized that sometimes God gives you the balcony seat, not to distance you, but to expand your view.

Think about that.

The David Sight and Sound show was a metaphor for my life lately: loud, colorful, unpredictable, and yet perfectly orchestrated.

Here’s what I learned…

The best view might be higher up than you planned.

Joy often hides in “almost” moments.

And the storms that scare you today might just be protecting you from something down the road.

So, if you ever find yourself in Branson, Lamberts, and Sight and Sound… get that balcony ticket.

Catch a roll.

Eat the pie.

Laugh too loudly.

And let the lights of David Sight and Sound remind you that God’s story—your story—is still unfolding beautifully.

Because sometimes, learning how to trust Jesus looks a lot like enjoying the ride, one blueberry pie and one thrown roll at a time.
