Tell me, should Christians curse or cuss?

cur Follow Me on Pinterest Girl, too much cursing on television these days.

I remember when George Jefferson saying H-E-L-L in the 70?s was a big, huge deal. Watch prime time television and you will see times have certainly changed. I’ve seen folks cursing on television (the real curse words) and pray right after! *Whew*

So the question becomes, is it ok for Christians to curse?

Some Christians say ?yes, it is fine for Christians to curse? and use profanity. What do you say?

In my opinion, you have to consider the source when Christians curse and condone doing so. Here is my take (not a judgment, just an observation): these Christians typically have not prayed more than 5 minutes at a time in their entire lives. Maybe they have, if they needed money, or they were going through a hard time in life. Hey, a difficult enough trial can push an atheist to his knees ? much less Christian. I promise you they do not get up early (or stay up late) to spend time with the Lord, to read His word every day or pray behind a closed door.

At the most, these Christians likely limit their prayer time to the occasional jovial “shout out” to God while driving home from work or folding laundry or, worse, watching television. These folks fall into the category of “Me and God are cool?” or “Jesus is my Dawg?” sort of Christians.

In the end, I guess, the question is NOT “is it ok for Christians to go around cursing?” as much as it is “Do mature, godly Christians curse” Ahhh, that’s an easy answer. NO! Grow up!

I challenge us both, let’s grow in the Lord and move beyond the worldly way of behaving. Let’s surrender our entire lives (including our mouths) to Christ and allow Him to change us, challenge us and wash us in His word. Even as baby Christians, we should strive to be like Christ and to be pleasing in His sight. Yes, it takes time. Yes, it is difficult and yes, it may be inconvenient. Attend church regularly, hang out with the Christians at your church and learn a new way of living, growing and striving. AND, if the majority of “seasoned” Christians in your church live just as carnal and worldly as sinners (people who live in and practice sin), THEN FIND A NEW CHURCH. Hey, no church is full of perfect people, but the majority should be growing as a result of God’s regenerative power and a strong, Bible-based teaching. If not, run!
