A Prayer of Safety – Driving Home

praying to get home in bad weather

Weather the weather is “good” or “bad”, it doesn’t hurt to pray as we drive.  I crafted this particular
prayer driving in bad weather on a winter day.

You can use it anytime. Also, once you prayer, remember to trust Him and believe you’ve received it.

At this very moment in my Midwestern city, snow is falling at a madman’s clip (i.e. fast). I’ve already begun praying for my friends, my biological and my church family. Since I often journal my prayers, I decided to blog my prayer so you might agree with me and have a quick prayer reference when you need one.

Here is my prayer for driving in bad weather:

“Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray for all those out in the wintery weather. I especially pray for my Macedonia church family, my friends and my own family.

Lord, as they make their way home, I pray the angels of the Lord would encamp around them and keep them in all their ways. I pray the other drivers on the roads around them would act wisely, with mercy while exercising good judgment and using much caution. I pray a covering of protection around them as well.

I also pray that the peace of the Holy Spirit would surround them as a shield during the stressful drive home. I pray they would not be fearful or panicked, but know that You are with them, guiding and directing them in every way. I pray that you would preserve them and their vehicles for your namesake. You are a faithful Protector.

Father, please give them patience knowing that waiting is an important part of any journey – but particularly during the journey home on snow packed roads. I plead the blood of Jesus over each one and I thank you for their safe arrival to their destination.

I praise you because You keep us in perfect peace and You make us to dwell in safety. I glorify You, and You alone because trauma may be on the left and the right of them, but please do not let it come near them! Thank you for your faithfulness and all the praise reports to come!

In Jesus mighty and matchless name I pray… Amen and so be it!”

Isn’t it great to know the Lord hears our prayers and is concerned with those things that concern us? He even hears our prayer driving in bad weather.  Wonderful God!

  1. I enjoyed your post, Bill. I grew up with term and believe in the power of the shed blood of Jesus – regardless what you call it or how you call it.

Have you noticed the modern church is often guilty of not singing, teaching or praying referencing the Bood? Or worse, some use it like a good luck charm. That’s one of the reasons I love the hymns so.

    Interesting.

  2. I know I missed when this was posted, but there is still bad weather out there across the nation so I will join you in prayer with those still traveling through rough spots! p.s. I’m with ya on “the blood”
