Say it Loud….

speaking up for what you believe

Have you noticed that many things God labels wrong are actually considered acceptable in today’s world?

Think about it. For many Christians, this paradox creates a sort of dissidence in our hearts and logic systems. You know what I mean? At times, it’s like an upside-down world!

Christian, a Dirty Word?
You know the very identity of “Christian” means something totally different than it historically represented in the past. In some ways that is good, but in others, it’s incredibly troubling.

Christian used to be associated with wholeness, fairness, morality, kindness and compassion. Now with popular media, the term Christian typically evokes fear, division and even anger. Worse still, some people (and media figures) associate Christianity with bigotry, intolerance and even hate. Such a confusing world, isn’t it?

Confusion Eliminated
In essence, as Christians, we are essentially Christ-followers. Translation: we follow Christ’s principles for living, worship and giving. We are consumed with being conformed into His image. We strive to love like Him, talk like Him, forgive like Him and bring hope by way of His life, death and resurrection. Not always easy, but nothing to be ashamed of there!

Christ’s Public Relations Representative
As Christ-followers, we have to know what God’s Word says and not be afraid to speak it, live it and embrace it openly – even when it offends others. I can’t tell you how many emails and silly comments I get about Godsy Girl. Now a days, I receive weird emails from people half way across the world who want to hurt me.

Back to my thought: God’s Word is timeless, it doesn’t change and neither does He. Contrary to what many teach, His Word does not morph or adapt itself to the tenets of popular opinion, news stories or a carnal worldly culture.

God’s Word is what it is- which is life to those groping in spiritual darkness. It is hope to the multitudes bludgeoned by disappointment and disillusionment. It is truth, power and a powerful discerner of our hearts. It’s the regulator.

What it’s not: it’s not spiritual a bargain basement in which we negotiate our faith and eternal futures.

So, in this day when wrong seems right and every behavior seems “ok” by man’s standards, I am determined to take a stand for Christ. I will, with the help of His Holy Spirit, live out God’s Words as He said them; as they are; as they forever shall be. I am not going to be mean or hateful, but I’m going to stand for what I believe.

Godsy Girl, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus-not your pastor, not your mother, not your first lady, not your uncle, not the television preacher – on Jesus alone. He [alone] is the author and the finisher of your faith. Keep your eyes locked on Him and His Words. Join me in taking a proud stand for Christianity. Let’s be salty for Jesus, Girl!

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-14
